Apologies in advance if this is the wrong venue.

In taking care of my grandfathers estate I came across this:

Could this be a Governor General's Prize from the 50's?
I know he won a great many shooting competitions in the late 50's and did qualify for Bisley once.

If it is a Governor General's Prize would anyone know of a site where I could find historical winners?

Recently came across the shooting program for the PEI PRA in 1958

I am surmising that the GG's medal listed above is this one he won in '58, unless he won a GG medal multiple times over the years. Anyone have any idea where I could begin to track it down?

As well from the same program:

Would anyone out there recognize the Snyder trophy, or know if it's still in use?

If so, would it be either of these depicted?

Sorry I can't help with your search for info, but I did want to thank you for posting this stuff! VERY interesting & your gramps must have been a cool guy!

Cheers
Jay

Talked with friend Alain Marion he knew one shooter Mr George Harper, he contacted Johnny Marshal and who knew all of them.

Back row Bill Goss, Lloyd Fraser and Bob MacKay

Front row Jack Baker, Elwood MacKay and George Harper

I believe this is an award for academic achievement. I know of someone who won this same prize.

Your GF sounds like a person worth getting to know.

I hope you will frame this with other suitable items and make it a display in your home. What a motivator for kids in school!

...just saw your other posts...OK, not sure now...

After taking a closer look at the picture that is in fact a much younger George Harper, the Commandant of the 2010 Canadian Bisley Team.
Great piece of history you have there.

Thanks for this. Yeah Johnny Marshal would know them well, unless I am mistaken that's who my grand father sold as his gear two when he stopped shooting. I keep meaning to get a hold of him when I am home in Pictou County.

That's the plan. A little display + one of his old rifles I repaired / refinished.
