Anyone ever done this? A little background; my dad and I have been hunting the same spot for the past year or so, trying to get the HUGE grizzled old 6-point who lives in the woods behind this big swamp (I've seen tons of moose tracks in the area too, so I put my name in for limited entry this year). I've only ever seen the bastard at LONG distances, probably 300 yards plus, but I can't be sure. To that end, I'm thinkin' about taking a salt lick up there this year and a GPS, and parking my ass about 200 yards downwind of the lick. I'm fairly sure this isn't illegal, but the whole point of this mess is that I wanna use the GPS for finding the approximate range (+/- a yard or two). Has anyone ever done this, and if so, have you had good results? Did you find it accurate enough for rangefinding? Any help would be much appreciated!
