Graf brass - unusually hard?

I've loaded a bunch of Graf brass in 9.3X62 two times now and each time I almost pull the press off the bench when I try to resize. I've used both Lyman spray lube - which didn't seem to make things better - and RCBS sizing lube which was only marginally better. I applied it to the inside of the neck and the entire exterior of the casing. I've never had such a hard time resizing/decapping brass before. I'm wondering if annealing would help or should I just chuck them and get some norma. Anybody else had this problem with Graf?:bangHead:

Graf

I am sure I am using the same brass as you - tradex stuff but I have not had unusually difficult sizing with mine. Could your dies be rough, or perhaps your chamber is generous? Annealing won't hurt, but just do the shoulder - If you roll the brass between your finger and thumb at the base, and drop into a bucket of water, you will not overheat the web :p

It is no good.......I will take that rotten stuff off your hands.:p Seriously though, the batch of 9.3x62mm Graf brass I have is fine, a certain number of cases have seen 5x firings, just to see if they would. They are now in the anneal pile. Now to figure out annealing.

The 5x fired have seen 56 grain Varget/286 Privi bullet for about 2,300 fps out of an old model 46 Husky, if that matters. I use that white Lee case lube with no problems so far, and no hernia while resizing.

Update

I just annealed 40 casings of the 9.3X62. I stood them in a pan of water about 3/4" deep - held a propane torch on the neck until the neck started to turn colour then moved the torch down the body to water level - then tipped the casing into the water. Possibly 2 or 3 seconds of heat on each casing. I then dried two casings off - lubed them as before - and there was an immediate improvement in the amount of force I needed to exert to full length resize the case. Before I thought I was going to rip the casing in half but now it only requires a moderate amount of pressure. I've got another 60 new casings to do before I load them for the fist time. Now to go and look at the sizing lube thread. I'm not impresssed with the Lyman spray lube. I just might gom back to a lube pad. cheers
