Hey guys,

I hope I'm posting this in the right place... I've got this issue where the mag likes to release itself from my GP K100 when racking the slide. Happens about 30% of the time... way too often. I thought it might be the magazine, so I bought 2 more new ones, and I get the same issue. I've been racking my brain trying to figure this out, but no success. Does anyone have any ideas to what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance!

I wish I could help but I have no idea. I used to own the K100 decocker model but I experienced zero problems with it. I felt it was very well built and a pleasure to shoot.

Does it consistently happen with every mag you have? Are they all in original configuration with original naked base plates? Did you tune the pistol, replace any parts?
I removed the base plate from one of my mags and pushed the mag as high as i could. The mag dropped down after ten or 15 slide racks.

I had a similar issue with my old K100 Patrol model. It would drop mags after firing a shot. Put in a new magazine catch and spring and all is well now.

Field strip the pistol and with an empty magazine locked in place, try to push the feedlips down to see if the magazine can be forced off the mag catch.
If it can't as I suspect, my best guess is you are bumping the mag catch from the trigger finger side during hand cycling of the slide.

If I'm correct and the issue is just accidentally hitting the mag button, you can recontour the weak side so it's flush.

If it's happening with new mags. Its either it's your slide catch, or you're accidentally hitting the mag release with you thumb.. Try as some said.

Unfortunately the Grand Power expert is banned here.

First of all, thank you to everyone for their replies! I really appreciate everyone taking the time to help me out with this!

Seamus: It happens both times... the one time I shot it, a mag flew out and blew up, then I tried another figuring it was maybe a bad mag, or I didn't insert it properly but it happened again...

DMazay: All the mags and pistol are in original configuration, haven't changed anything about them, the issue is the same for all of my mags (5 mags)

Marshall/Bearlk: I thought I was hitting the mag release accidentally, so I tried to replicate the issue while being extremely careful not to touch the mag release... it still happens.

AuggieDoggie: Thanks for the idea! I'll most likely do that as well... I just really hope that I won't be wasting money on it, and that it's not some other issue

MBJ: I'll try doing what you said... I've tried replicating the issue without touch the mag release, but your recommendation would be the ultimate test to see if it's user error!

Once again guys, I really appreciate everyone taking the time to comment! I'll try everyone's ideas, and update if/when I find the solution.
