Greasy oil leaching stocks

I know about cosmoline but on occasion I have encountered milsurps with stocks the leach oil out of them. Is this part of long term storage or privates being to liberal with the oil can after range time? Most south american mausers seem to be plagued with this.

Oil get's into the wood and work's it's way out.

Just a long term storage thing. If you look at the bringbacks and other not-stored firearms you never see those soaked stocks....imho
