I went out looking for chicken/partridge this afternoon at 3:30. I walked the edge of two 1/2 mile sides of Wildlife Lands in wheat stubble. I managed to actually get a Hungarian. That will be my supper tomorrow night.

There is a big slough on the south end of the Wildlife quarter. There have been beavers in there for years. I watched one for a few minutes. There were also muskrats right near the beaver.

While cutting back south and west through the thick bush, I put up a bull moose! No time for a pic. Nice to see, though.

Here is part of the slough, looking east:

And here's some of the damage the beavers have inflicted:

And, of course, the usual gun against the tree pic: :p

Leave the beavers, without em we'd be screwed. Something about holding water on the landscape creating more growth and productivity....nevermind

22 over 20? Nice gun!

In this case. the beavers haven't created anything but a mess. The slough has no exit runs, so to speak. The pics don't really show how deep the area is. I would suspect that during the "wet years", the early 1950's around here, there would have been a huge body of water there. If the water ever got high enough to run out of this slough, beavers would be a way down the list of things to worry about.:p
