Never owned one and finally took the plunge thanks to Sgt. Striker. Was a little apprehensive in loading for the first time but I kept the heal of my hand on the operating rod and no problems. There were no FTF/FTE everything worked smoothly and as it should. Bought some cheap UMC 150fmj and did some reloading with IMR 3031 and 150gn. fmjbt. Max load was 50 grn. so I started 10% lower at 45grn and worked up to 49grn. No pressure signs and loaded flawlessly. Guessed at 6 clicks up for 100 yards and I was right on the money. Noticed as the powder charge increased the cases were thrown more to the right. With 45grn they ejected about 12:00 or 1:00 and as I went higher they eventually ended at 3:00 at 49grn and were the same for UMC factory stuff.

Reloads were:
Cases: Remington
Primers: Remington (all the stores had at the time)
Case Length: all trimmed to exact dimensions
Bullet: 150grn FMJBT
Crimp: Crimped with Lee Factory crimp die for 30-06

You can see that 46 and 46.5 are basically the same thing and if you count a couple of flyer's then they are close to a bolt action rifle. I am very happy and couldn't be more pleased with this fine rifle. Didn't know what to expect from recoil and when I shot the factory stuff all I could say is "Is that it", expecting more kick I guess. I have a 18" 30-06 light Remington rifle and after about 2 boxes of shells it is about enough and I start to flinch, hell I could have shot this thing all day. Put 125 rounds thru her with no problems. Great little rifle and boy am I hooked now, can't wait to go out again and show the little SKS boys how it is done.

I thought she'd be a nice shooter. I find when I use surplus M2 ammo, the cases end up in the 2 o'clock position. I think I read somewhere, that's how the drill Sgt's could tell if the troops had cleaned their rifles from the day before, as to where the empty caseings fell, and the 2 o'clock position is the correct area. I hope to get out to the range this week as well. Glad you like the rifle, just watch out you don't end up with a case of Garanditis. It's hard to own just one.... :D

Cheers
Dean
