My Mosin sniper shot so damn good but the russian 3x scope was a major limiting factor for me for long range shooting , so i found this mount on Ebay and it works very well.. Holy crap this thing can shoot now!! Im going to try a Bushnell elite 10x Tactical with target turrets soon and see how that works .. Thought i would post this if anyone wants to mount a modern scope to their sniper without modifying it ..

I seen those mounts the other day, I may pick one up for one of mine as well.
How is it for eye relief? It looks kind of close.

The eye relief is perfect with this scope so it should be fine with most scopes . Not much of a cheek rest though , might rig something up but i dont wana mess the stock up at all , was thinking green duct tape and some foam ..

Does it lock in tight and hold zero? I've just got a 91/30 PU sniper and I'm sure I'll want to shoot further than the fixed scope will let me.

Yes it holds zero very well , i did use a bit of blue loctite on the screws as with any mount or rings,. The scope is centred perfectly with the rifle too , its not sitting off to one side more than the other .. Im very happy with this mount ..

A cheek pad can be fashioned and strapped/laced through the stock slot hole to get a good cheek weld.Harold

Don't use duct tape it will wreck the shellac. This is gonna sound messed up but anyways, use bondage tape, like from a ### shop. It sticks to itself and nothing else and leaves no residue.

any problems with zeroing scope with this mount?

Looks like a good way to save wear and tear on your original collector scope too! Any issues with sighting in your scope?

No issues at all . The mount itself can be adjusted for elevation and windage the same way the factory mount does if you run out of scope adjustment .. I laser bore sighted mine at home and at the range it just need a bit of fine tuning about 10 rounds it was done , then i was smacking a 8''x8'' steel plate at 250m almost every shot ..

Im looking into getting a Mosin too but i was thinking more about drilling and tapping the action, and using a bent bolt to fit a modern scope on there.

I hate to say this but due to my age I have started to experience macular degeneration. Even with this problem the PU scope still allows me to hit a 6 inch gong at 500 meters. Practice makes perfect as my Dad used to say.

Would you provide more info on how one does the laser bore sighting

Much appreciated.

edit, I see vids on youtube but asking from someone who has done it with a mosin.
