Well a couple of us GGNer headed out to the field today to shoot on this beautiful Monday long weekend! IVO, Marcoman, and others, headed out a little slice of heaven to test some new guns, true some ballistics solutions and smack talk the the heck out of each other.

IVO made up some steel targets for us to blast from 225m to 1400m and everywhere in between. Most were 0.75MOA sized steels which seems like an easy task until the early morning calm gave way to mid morning havoc. Winds were a lot of fun gusting from 7mph to 21mph, with no steady conditions.
Started up some head to head friendly competition , two shots on each target mixed and matched, most hits wins. We decided the spotters wouldn't call corrections, only hits. This turned out to be a great exercise in spotting your own hits to make corrections. I definitely missed more than I hit today, but I sure left feeling humbled. A couple snaps from the day and a short video. (this video starts my journey into more shooting video editing.)

Next time we pack the barricade!

To whoever owns the Zeiss Spotter 60 with Vectronix on top, I hate you. Just kidding, that is some seriously nice gear man.

Good times!

7"x7" plate at 963m made for some challenging shooting when holding off 3.5mil for wind!

Looks like a great day! I have to ask about the bottom pic of the barricade, what is that thing? When I seen how it was built I threw up in my mouth a bit.lol

Hahaha, fair enough. It is built from 100% recycled cedar fence board, hard to argue with free. Although it looks like a dogs breakfast, it is a hoot to shoot off of. Designed to be about as awkward to shoot from as it looks!

That's my kind of range day. There's nothing like thwacking steel at distance. So who was testing their new rifle and how did it go?

New .260 Coyote. During a previous outing I did a brief 10rd break in then shot 4 groups of load development.
139 Scenars and 130VLD's went into mid .3's @ 100m. I didn't test them at 300m yet but I'm confident they'll hold 1/2 moa. Loaded up 100 130VLD's for today and had some fun. Gun shot great, very solid/stable and extremely soft shooting.

How do you like the LabRadar?

Great spot, nice shooting for sure.

Went out to check out a new spot for this years shooting... Snow and mud are finally gone so sent some lead down range too.

From "off the hood" to over 1 mile... fun, fun, fun.

Beautiful country where you are for sure.

I can "thank" the pine beetles for more LR clear cuts then I could ever use up in a lifetime.

My Swaro only reaches out to 2000yds and that is in the middle of a clearing looking the other way.
