Just wondering how to tell if a No.4 was part of a Greek 'lend/lease' program or what have you. Are there any other markings/stampings on the rifle aside from the original? Were these rebuilt by the Greeks?

I've noticed a few around that state they were Greek issue, a few Long Branch circa 1950, but I can't tell if they've been altered other than maybe the addition of stacking rod on the front band.

Thanks for any insight.

I bought a bunch of greek long branch rifles from Century in Montreal. Most of them were close to un-issued and a few of them had seen lots of action. One of them has a receiver that seemed to have taken a direct hit from something. All the parts on the gun are brand new except for the receiver, which was refinished to match the new parts. The gun works like a "clock". All of the guns had tape on the buttstock with serial number and greek writing. Most of the guns were late issue.

There's one way to identify a Greek LB rifle. As Can14 said, a tag or similar with Greek writing on it, but more importantly a number on the bottom of the magazine with the LB serial number less the L.
