Greek Military Handguns World War 1 Era

Not bad...In one posting you've managed to insult three different nationalities. The man asks a reasonable question and you take the thread to the crapper with your offmark comments.

As a guy with greek heritage (canadian citizen, so no I'm not greek), I think you're being over sensitive. It was funny, no one cared, get off the righteous pedestal and go back to the regular programming.

On that note - I've always been kindof fascinated with greek weaponry. They never had their "own" arms production did they? As I understood it there were a lot of Steyrs and Carcano's that they bought or were given, and later simply used whatever stuff they could steal.

no surprise to many of you... I was born greek. my great grandfather(an officer) passed along his military issued revolver to my grandfather who in turn left it to me when he passed away in 1981. Now since I was only 14 at the time I was never really alowed to hang on to it .. plus it was in greece and I lived here in canada. but, I remember playing with it (with my grandfather) up until we imigrated to Canada around when I was 7 and do CLEARLY remember the make being a Colt. In fact . . up until I was in my mid teens I think I still thought that every revolver was a colt.

now as for the matter of that previous joke...

hahahahaha.

no really that made me howel.
c'mon guys. have we become so sensative that we can't even laugh at a lite joke? I mean we as reasonable and intellegent individuals should be able to distinguished a joke made in a comedic light from a remark that attempts to discredit a nation (of people. . not to mention a few sheep) ;)

Im greek and I like joking around. On my mailbox at work I got a picture of a sheep with lipstick LOL. Her name is bahhhhbra. LOL

In case no one realized, the joke was made a year and a half ago! I have matured since then and dont tell jokes like that anymore.

Anyway, There were these two pollacks who walked into a bar....ahh never mind.:D

Seriously, though, I don't think that Greece had any kind of small arms manufacturing industry. Even after WWII, I beleive they were issued mostly American arms. Greek issued Garands have recently been brought back to the US and are being sold by the CMP.

Anyone know what their current issue rifle, pistol and MG are these days?

many police officers still have revolvers - mostly ruger gp's and security six models.

hk's have been issued too.

as for military rifles, mp5's , hk's , and m4/16 .

Sorry everyone, the resurrection of this old thread was based on my doing a search for 'Colt' after reading GT's post on the new forum tagging system. I responded to the post and then realized it was VERY old.
