I was looking at purchasing a GM Aero barrel for my next 10/22 build.
I was curious if any other nutter here had one and could possibly give me some feedback on it. (good, bad or otherwise)

Most sites from the US dont ship barrels here or have a 200 dollar limit. I was forced to either get one from Ellwoods or a Green Mountain. Not to many after market barrel options here for us.

Oh... I'm well aware of that sl66ICEcuba! :D
Do you have one?
I have a possible line on one and was curious how they performed.

I have a Green Mountain barrel and an unknown brand fluted heavy barrel. I have used both and was pleased. Honestly I didnt find much difference at all between heavy barrels it really depends on the type of ammo you shoot when it comes to .22 LR. High velocity rounds made more of a difference then one heavy barrel to another. CCI performed the best for me, I just cant compel myself to spend more money on 22 ammo.

Thanks sl66ICEcuba!
The thing with the Aero barrel is that it's not a "heavy barrel".
It's actually a light weight (18 oz.) sporter barrel free floating inside a .920 aluminum shroud so you can use them in a heavy barrel stock set-up without the weight.

I have a GM fluted 18" stainless. She is a tack driver. Don't see anything wrong about the outer shroud. I would get two! I'm not that far from ya :D

Hey Trotter (you old dog!)
I have a SS 18'' fluted GM heavy barrel that I bought from Barry @ Bit's Of Pieces and it is a tack driver for sure!!
I put the barrel on a Hogue set-up but found it really heavy to carry.
Great on a bench!...but heavy for a stroll.
That's why I think this barrel would be a perfect fit for the application.

The aero is a "target" barrel.
It has 1:15 twist (instead of 1:16) and
a "target" chamber, whatever that means (GM doesn't give details).
My previous one was reasonably accurate but only with
some Eley and other high-end ammo, very pricey.

I have one more of them, BNIB,
I am not sure yet if I will use it or sell it.
If I will use it I am very curious to know
if it is going to prefer the same kind of ammo.

GM advertises that barrel as a 17",
but that is taking into consideration the lenght of the tube.
It is only 16" if you measure it in the Canadian way (crown to bolt face).

Hey Dr. Lector!
Long time...:D
I saw GM advertising them as "Competition & Sport" not as straight out "target" barrels??
No matter really. I think as with anything from Green Mountain, you really can't go wrong.
(besides...I have some evil thoughts on a set-up for this barrel! )
