so, on my little stack of projects I have a Greener Martini MkIII shotgun in 12/14 gauge

there is no ammo for it and making brass shot shells out of 12 gauge shells is not easy.

then last night I had a thought, I have a 44 caliber barrel.... why not

I'm going to have to modify the breach to fill in the extra holes, the Martini Greener in 12/14 had a 3 pronged firing pin.

now the action is strong enough to take 44 mag or 45/70 or anything sane that will fit in the breach.

receiver I don't know if its the same threads as the regular martini but I suspect that it might be a larger shank, the blank I have is a little over 1" so I hope that it is big enough.

so that's 2 questions, what is the receiver thread and what is a sane cartridge, 45/70 and 44mag are easy to find brass but what about some of those other 45s like 45/90 or 45/120???

I doubt you can go much longer than 45-70 or maybe 45-90. Most rimmed cases would be appropriate though. Probably want to bush the firing pin while at it.

Had ones in 303 of course, 45-70, 32-40 and 22K Hornet. If you have a 44 barrel that seems like a great place to start. Could bush the barrel shank with the stub from the original if it's too small.
