It's been many years since I've fired a handgun (or rifle for that matter), but I have the desire to do pistol target shooting; and may even try my hand at skeet again. Went to an indoor range today, and had quite the blast!

Anyways, I think I'll be quite content with .22 calibre ...... I know that doesn't sound glamorous or anything, but to me it is about the shooting and accuracy that I'm able to achieve. (and frankly, the ammo is so much more economical)

So, question for those experienced with .22's, what would be some model recommendations? I think I want to go past the 'entry level market', but not crazy top dollar either. Semi-auto would be preferred choice.

Looking forward to taking part in the forum.

cheers - Dirk

Welcome! And your question is best directed to the handgun forum. Really there is a lot of discussion on .22lr as its economical and fun to shoot.

Hi Dirk, welcome to the forum.

The best value semi-auto 22 rifle is a Ruger 10/22 imho. It's a proven, reliable rifle at a good price with many upgrades and accessories available.

As for a .22 pistol the handgun forum will be able to steer you in the right direction.

BTW, are you from South Africa?

Dirk, welcome!
If you want accurate .22s...
Get a CZ 452 rifle, and a MKIII Ruger or Browning Buckmark pistol, or something similar. Welcome to the community and enjoy your stay.

While I don't discount the vast knowledge you will find here, also join www.rimfirecentral.com to read up on .22-caliber handguns and rifles.

But post here too, we have some kick-ass people and always have room for more. :)
Best of luck to you! :)
