Good afternoon.

I live right by the Richelieu on the south shore. I'm rather new to the sport (and by "new", I mean I haven't even taken the CFSC yet) and have been lurking around your forums for a while now.

I'm right handed with a dominant left-eye, so I'll be on the market for an ambidextrous pistol until I can afford a Tavor or something. I plan on sharing with my older brother and maybe my father if he pays for some of the ammo, so it has to be ambidextrous (They are both right handed/right eyed).

Je suis parfaitement bilingue, en pensant.

Salut SCDL,

Welcome to Gunnutz, best place to hang around if you like shooting, firearms, and everything else related.

Cheers!

Lou

Bienvenue parmi nous!

Quand est-ce que tu comptes passer le CFSC?

J'vais faire l'appel cette semaine. J'vais surement etre sur une liste d'attente.

(J'ai un clavier anglophone... Pas d'accents...)

Thanks for the welcome!

Hi Welcome,

I'm Right handed and left eye dominant too. I shoot right handed only and just face my head slightly to the right with a isocoles triangle stance. But you can't go wrong with ambi stuff especially if you are going to shoot IPSC because you'll have to shoot weak hand at some point anyway.

Do you have a good 1911 yet?

I haven't even take the safety course, yet... Can't buy a gun without a license...

I was looking at the 1911's as they generally get very good press, but I don't really like the idea of the beavertail grip safety.

I also would prefer getting a DA/SA pistol, as it is quicker on the draw.

With a rifle? Sounds awkward.

My left hand is still pretty strong, so I shouldn't have too much trouble teaching it to shoot.

And, on the plus side, I'll have a quick reload with my dominant hand.

Bolt-action will probably cause me much grief, though.

Bienvenu

Salut,

Same situation for me, generally right-handed but very left-eye dominant. I have shot RH bolt action rifles for 35 years and prefer them for the reason you stated--easy reloading while maintaining target focus.

I think you will enjoy your stay, welcome to CGN!

Welcome, dude. see you at the range.
Which ones will you join?
And don't forget to vote Conservative if you want to keep them....

The closest to my place, most likely.

I've been looking around online for a list of gun clubs in quebec, but most of them seem to be either in town or way the hell up north. I'm guessing you're nearby?

I vaguely remember hearing about one on Chemin des Trentes or Chemin de la riviere-des-hurons somewhere between Mont Saint Hilaire and Richelieu (the town, not the river), but I haven't seen any mention of it online or in the local phonebook.

Otherwise, I remember there being one in St Hyacinthe, but that's still a 20 to 30 minute drive.

Cheers and be safe!

Si je trouve un pistolet ambidextre avec un kit de conversion. Sinon, j'vais devoir en acheter 2.

Merci encore pour l'accueille!
