Greetings From the GTA

Hello All,

A gentleman from another forum refered me to this forum one day when we were discussing firearms and I have been lurking and reading up on as much information as I can find.

This seems to be a great site with some good honest people and tons of knowledge (which I havn't yet acquired..please don't hurt the noob :) ).

Some info about myself:

Currently studying at U of T where I got the chance to shoot some of the small .22's at the hart house range, which was very fun and a good time killer between lectures. Previous gun experience was pretty little, when I was a much younger lad and went to visit Pakistan (where my family hails from) I had the chance to shoot some real firearms at the makeshift ranges they had setup at what was some kind of fair. My accuracy was complete s**t but it was probably the funnest thing ever :)

Flash forward to now:

Will be getting my PAL/Restricted lisences soon. If anyone has a specific club to join and course they would recommend in the GTA (i'll travel to scarborough or sauga if need be but i'd prefer not to go as far as peterborough), that would be pretty super.

Some of the firearms i'm intersted in acquiring either for sport shooting purposes or just as collectables are (in no particular order):

1) USP .45 --> reliable, cheap, fun target shooting and it's the sidearm that Solid Snake uses in the Metal Gear solid series so it has some personal "cool" factor to it.

2) AR series rifle --> you guys know all about it and why it rocks...nuff said :)

3) AK-47 --> yeah i know they're prohibited :( so i guess i will have to settle for another rifle that can be upgraded to look like one. Any recommendations as far as this goes?

Greetings to all and happy shooting :)

Welcome to the best gun board in North America.

Hart House is an interesting range, worthy of a "tourist trip" if you happen to be in the area. It might be one of the most hidden ranges in the country, too.

Enjoy yourself on Gunnutz.

so i just found out i live about spitting distance from al flahrety's hunting/outdoor supply and i believe they still run a PAL course. I am now a happy man :D

Now all i have to do is try to fit an AK stock and furniture kit to the CZ 858 and i'm an extremly happy camper (er..shooter?).
