You can order from Green Mountain directly, they were happy to take my order a couple months ago.

I just called them - they are sending a list. ... you got a BCPR direct?? most places won't ship cartridge barrels... GM is also out of stock on all the .45-70 so I need to "find" one. :(

Try nine35.

Interesting ... where are they located?

Honestly, I don't remember, but I've ordered from him a couple times, and had great service.

Cheers,
Stomp :)

bitsofpieces.com will get you all the info you need.

Barry and his crew are good people.

When you go onto their site, GM links are there as well as prices.

By the time Barry gets all the permits etc, expect the list price to more than double.

GM barrels are usually pretty good value.

I've ordered several from bitsofpieces and only one was a problem as the bore was off center. Barry took it back and replaced it, no questions asked. I think he was embarrassed it got by him.

Bits of pieces out in BC used to bring them in on the regular.

Got emails back from both - no dice. :(

Are round blanks available? I can cut an octagon profile from a round blank as well as do the fitting if you wish.

Paul.

I might have to go that route/custom barrel .... I'm in no hurry this is a next year project ATM (so I better get started ASAP!! :) ) Not seeing any blanks long enough on GM site either .... :(

You have an email or drop me one & I can reply sean@kimballarms.ca

Yes - got an email back from him pretty quick, offered some options & advise ... never expected this to be cheap, when all is said and done I would not be shocked at north of $1500 ...

GM barrels are pretty good, I do prefer rice and colerain - GM are a little harder to work (but not much)

I've never had a problem with either the stainless or chrome/moly barrels I've gotten from them, as long as my cutting tools were sharp and a good cutting oil is used.

The 416 stainless they use will work harden if you feed to slow.

$1500???? you must be estimating the cost of the complete build??

well, *IF* I could get a barrel out of GM that's $455 USD, listed on the site as out of stock. Metals (particularly aluminum) have skyrocketed over the past few months (I just bough some brass and copper round bar - they told me I was lucky they have it in stock otherwise new material would be double!!)

Anyway - after exchange, shipping (has doubled from the US) and duty, that barrel is gonna be just over $700 IF it doesn't have to go through an imported VIA some ITAR crap. Then rebarrel, chamber and extractor cut - looks like a couple of relief cuts on the stub for the door to clear ... expecting at least another $500CDN for that. (if I can find anyone do do it - no one wants to touch those square threads) so yea .. creeping up on $1500 now, if I have to get a barrel made ... no - I would not be shocked. probably another $400 for lock, trigger and hardware ... so should still be around $2k before I start working on it.

I went through a local gunsmith who had all the permits for crossborder barrel importing and Homeland Security stopped the order as it was over .50 caliber. A weapon of mass destruction a .54 Hawken ball barrel............stupid yes ......happened yes.

When did this happen? I had a .54 swamped barrel shipped a few months back and have noticed things are getting more "scrutiny" at the border. who actually stopped it US homeland security or CBSA?

A decade ago after 911 ........HS At the same time they delayed some 10 ga shotguns heading north until some genius discovered
they were for shooting down geese not commercial airliners.
