So my 1959 dated cases have had the ammo where the case and bullet is grey. It's worked well. I have another two sealed cases dated 08/60 and 08/61. Just wondering if these production years are also full grey product? I'm curious if anyone knows the end date (if there was) on the ammo that was all grey.

So far any '68 and '71 dated cases I have seen have had the conventional green case and copper washed bullet.

Sorry steve, that is incorrect. Only the grey steel cased ammo is steel core. My friend pulled a bunch of bullets and cut them to see what teh grey ones are made of and they're all steel. The copper jacketed rounds are lead core which can be seen if you pull the bullet and look at its base. The lead is plainly visible.

At a loss at the moment to explain why some is steel and some lead, but the more logical theories are cost saving and pre-tooling for AP rounds.
