Im thinking of going turkey hunting in Grey County (WMU 82A) in Grey County Forest 38, I haven't been there yet and was wondering if you need a permit to hunt, like in Dufferin county forests. Also for deer season you can use rifles in that WMU so I was wondering if there is a caliber restriction.

It's been a long time since I hunted that area, but I can tell you NO you don't need a permit, and NO, there isn't a caliber restriction for deer hunting with a rifle. I still have a cottage there, and have noticed an increasing abundance of turkeys in the past few years. I'm guessing anywhere that isn't overrun with other hunters would be a great place to turkey hunt.

Grey County Forest 38 isn't very big. 150 Hectares (369 Acres). Mind you, the only recreational use is hunting. It'll likely be alive with other hunters.
Some municipalities have a calibre restriction no matter what you're hunting.
You may want to contact the local MNR office and ask if there's anything you need. Midhurst (705) 725-7500

I hunt that area but don't know County Forest 38. I see LOTS of hunters there for deer and since I always hunt alone, it is hard to get away from them all. I see ALL kinds of rifles being used as well, no restrictions.

too bad i can;t hunt turkeys right on the side of the highway in grey as i see probably 40 everyday on the way to and from work.
