I'm looking to make shooting experiences more tolerable for younger siblings who come to the range to shoot with me. Does anyone have experiences with either of these two devices and know if they fit standard A2 muzzle devices, or do I have to have a Griffin brake to fit their shield, and vise versa for the Surefire?

Thanks!

Why do you need a blast shield on a A2 FH?

Why do you need a blast shield on a A2 FH?

I'm operating under the assumption that it would still help direct gases in only the forward direction and cut down on the noise to people next to me.

I could be completely wrong though- my knowledge on these sorts of things is limited.

Generally anythinf longer than 11.5 or even 14.5 doesnt warrant a need for those kinds of attachments. If you are shooting 10 and below, then your friends will thank you

I've got a 16" barrel. If parts like this are of no use to me, then I'm glad I asked before I bought. I was just hoping to make it easier on younger ears to be nearby.

I would like to buy one some day. When we shoot CQB matches, we do shoot modified prone (on your side) and like the guy in the video, I get a lot of dirt in my face. The Griffin shield should fit a standard A2 bird cage.

From Griffin:
"The Griffin QD Blast Shield is compatible with our line of QD 5.56mm mounts, Including the Flash Comp, Muzzle Brake, Compensating Flash Hider, and Tactical Compensator. It is also compatible with A2 Compensators that fall within the NATO spec blueprinted dimensions. Although many companies manufacture A2 style compensators not all of them are dimensioned properly. Not Compatible with BCM, BCE or PWS muzzle devices."

Yeah i've done that at courses too, and it's not fun to have everything blow up in your face.

I saw that they claim that, but I've also found a pretty informative video online that disproved that theirs would fit a standard A2 flash hider.

Colonel Mustard is also selling a similar product called "The Stinger" by Matador Arms.
