Howdy all.
My wife and I just got a pair of S&W revolvers. A 686 for her and a 629 for me.
The grips on the 629 don't quite suit me so I'm trying to find a set of Pachmayrs and man are they scarce.
I've exhausted about every search I can think of and no luck.

One gun shop guy told me to order them from Brownell's. I told him I was pretty sure they wouldn't ship to Canada but I'd try. Sure enough, after going through the online purchase procedure, I get an email with a confirmation number-----yee haw!

An hour or so later another email informs me that the order is cancelled---the item can't be shipped to Canada.
Sheesh.

Anyone know where I might find some on this side of the border? N frame round butt. I wouldn't be opposed to some Hogue grips either.

Thanks in advance for your input.

i bought the hogue rubber conversion grip for my 629 and really like. Feels (and looks) better to me than the pachmayrs but i know many swear by the pachmayrs. several places in canada source hogue but i ordered mine from the us direct without a problem. hogue makes one in g10 which looks pretty sweet too

Pachmayrs ships to CA the last time I ordered. Just be willing to wait, they are very slow to ship.

The last N-frame Pachmayr grips I bought were in stock, hanging on a rack at Shooters Edge in Calgary. They were for a square butt, and it was a while ago, but it wouldn't hurt to try them.

Hogue dot com ships to Canada.
They have a large variety of grips.
I have ordered for my S&W 586 (same as 686 but blued) their rubber grip with Big (wooden) Butt.

Another source for grips is ebay and amazon
Thai grip-makers do a fantastic job and shipping is included in their displayed prices.
And you can communicate with them prior to buying to confirm grip thick-(or thin)-ness. Cheers

"...order them from Brownell's..." Shipping will hurt you, but there shouldn't be any reason for them not to ship grips. Unless Pachmayr has an agreement with their distributor. North Sylva, I think.
"...don't quite suit me..." An 'N' frame fit your hand? If it's too big, grips won't help.
'N' frame grips aren't that hard to come by. Pachmayr has a Canadain distributor anyway.

I tried ordering from Brownell's and after the order was placed I got an email from them saying that due to DDTC restrictions, blah blah, the order has been cancelled.

I don't find the N frame too big. I just don't care for the shape of the grips. I like the feel of Pachmayer's better.

Think that i've got a used/spare pair of N frame presentation grips kick'n around if that's the style you're look'n for.
Brownells won't ship these to Canada for some reason.

I bought a set of new Pachmayr round butt K/L frame Gripper grips for my Canadian edition 4.2 inch barrel Smith & Wesson 686-6 to replace the factory rubber grips that came with the gun. Even though the grips fit but does not work as the screw hole is right over the main spring. Any one else experiencing the same problem?

Caution as these do not fit the newer 686-6. I purchased this for a S&W 686-6 (7 shot) revolver. However the screw hole in the grip lines up exactly with the mainspring, and the screw cannot be installed.
