Grip mod Ruger 22/45 Mark III

Over the weekend I finished the grip mod on my Ruger rimfire. Turned out pretty good. Now I can put any 1911 style grip on it and it feels much nicer in the hand. The factory grip was far too thin. Also got my extra mags in the mail yesterday.

I basically followed the instructions here:

I used a dremel tool and put tape on the frame around the area I was sanding to avoid marking it. I also used a flat file to ensure it was all level. Then I installed the 1911 bushings with some epoxy to secure it (after checking that the grips fit well of course). Wasn't a perfect job, but it turned out pretty good.

I don't know why Ruger doesn't just build them to work with 1911 grips in the first place...

Dang I just walked away from adeal on a 22/45 for $275....... b/c I couldn't change the grips and I hated the factory one.

Oh well I still got my Buckmark!
