Grippier Furniture for VR-66?

The stock and handguard on my VR-66 are a bit too slippery and hard plastic feeling for my taste. Is there anything I can add to them (short of skateboard tape) or do to them to get them a bit grippier? I'm thinking something more rubbery feeling, like 870 synthetic stocks or my Stevens 350 Ithaca clone. They are both grippy and feel much more secure in the hand.

Thanks,
Mark

I did skateboard tape on my shotgun for the same reason. It actually turned out good and has lasted pretty well (probably did it 4 or 5 years ago and its starting to lift behind the trigger guard as that area is exposed to oil & cleaning solvents etc but the forehand is still perfect).

I haven't used it but I know someone who was going to use a "Grip Paint" type product (from memory it had silica or similar mixed for the grip). I went the tape route as I figured I could remove or replace it easily if it got scabby or the grip wore off.

Is stippling an option?

Any pics?

That might be something to look into, but I agree that paint is a pretty permanent option and hard to remove if I don't like it.

That's very permanent, I would need to see a finished version before I went that route.

Plasti Dip spray might do the trick. Easy to remove and re-apply.

That looks very decent. How did you get the tape to stick to all the compound curves?

What about one of those A2 style stocks with the pistol grip that TNA sells for those?
I don't want a pistol grip stock, I prefer the conventional style for the manual of arms of a tube fed shotgun.

Honestly heat (heat gun) and some time it all shaped and stuck pretty well.

Pretty sure this is the tape I used:

Agree on the pistol grip & manual of arms. I have both, much prefer the non pistol grip.

Nice job on that one.
Heat gun works great, that and some patience.
Aggreed with the non pistol grip stock. This is the way.
