Griz 870: Somewhat official word

Im so sick of playing pattycake with the gun laws in canada.

As long as you dont shoot anybody and make sure your always shooting with safety in mind go nutz I say.

I don’t know if things have changed, but I was told last April in person by the RCMP person in charge of the Technicians, FRT and Verifiers training that putting an aftermarket stock on an 870 did not change its classification. (I wish I could remember his name, but I can’t locate his card at this moment.) He specifically mentioned that the Dlask shotguns were legal, and non restricted, since they did not fold, and the barrels were manufactured not cut.

Yep, that's what I understand. Dlask's and Dominion's are Non restricted as long as you don't put on a stock that brings it to under 660mm (which would include pistol grip). What is the OAL of Dlask's 8.5" with the regular stock? It's got to be pushing that 660mm as is.

That's what I say, and that's what should apply to any non-restricted gun. But if you're out having your fun with what you think should be a long gun, and all of a sudden someone with some authority comes along and says no that's a handgun, we've got a problem.

I was told that it was non restriced even if it was under 660mm, putting an aftermarket accessory on it does not change the registration.
