greating from BC all you gunnutz.

so, i picked up a rem' 870 xpress from my brother for a hell of a deal; with intentions on turning it into a grizz' gun/backpack carry.. i intend on using less than lethal in it, and don't really have intentions of using it for anything other than 'just in-case' situations.

my problem is, i'm looking at the parts i'm going to need, and the costs for the smithing, would it just be cheaper to pick up a norinco grizz' gun? take into account, i don't have much experiance with that company, and i know no matter the load, weather, or intensity of the situation - when i pump this rem' she'll fire true.

what would you guys do personally, go with the more expensive route and get a good hobby gun, or pick up a pre-made grizzly gun?

thanks a lot for any and all in-put!

Id pick up a stainless mossberg pump to begin with as I've had problems with Remington before. But there are probably lots of guys here that will tell you the opposite. What I do think most people will agree on its to steer far away from norinco if we are talking about a gun that could save your life..

.. i intend on using less than lethal in it,

Unless you're just shooing bears out of the back yard or campsite from the safety of a house or vehicle, I wouldn't go with LTL for wilderness protection. In those extremely rare circumstances where your life is in danger, you want the real deal. Good old fashioned 1 oz (or more) lead slugs.

I think the Mossberg Maverick line is among the cheapest pump guns in 'Defender' style. Personally, I like a short-barreled SxS, but that's just me...

Im liking the sbs in roughly 12.5 -- it was brought to attention that sawing the the berrel makes the gun prohib so im going to scrap that idea!
The ltl I was looking at at were beanbag shots with markers.. that way when I called in the dead bear I could say he ignored my my warning so I had no other choice. .
Dominion arms has a copy of the rem 870 in 12.5 lots of people like them but no one is selling them used. .. that tells me they've got a decent product. No?

I have a grizzly that has many many rounds down the pipe...try not to put too much stock in the haters ...the thing is a tank and built to last... @ 299 brand new for a 12.5" you can't beat that!! I have a mossberg 500 which I love (due to extractor issues with an 870 <still a great gun)
But don't let naysayers steer you away from a good product DA grizzly is solid and as the poster above stated..not many used ones for sale usually speaks volumes by itself :) .!!

Of course as always this is imho and ymmv :)

if you got it for a real good deal just keep it id say. have the best of both worlds
