Just got my new 12.5" grizzly from canada ammo. Does anyone know if the barrel is thick enough to be threaded for choke tubes. Nearest gunsmith is 1.5hrs away so a bit of a PITA to take just to ask. Anyone have experience with this?
Thanks in advance.

there is a post in here by someone who had a bunch done and had a fairly high failure rate when trying to thread them. I think some were too out of round to do it, and some cracked after it had been done. Can't remember who or in what thread, but that was the jist of it.

The 12.5" Grizzly with Ghost Ring sights comes with a modified choke tube. For just $10 more than the plain barreled, cylinder choke model, it's probably the best option for most.

I know a couple of smiths who won't do them. They say not only were they thinner than regular 870 barrels, but the inside diameter wasn't concentric with the outside. That was for early ones, it may have changed since then.

I have the one with the ghost ring sights. Got it a week ago from canada ammo. Mine is not threaded. Had i known it was available threaded i would have got it. Oh well, i'm still happy. These things are pretty cool.
