Grizzly Bears.... and other things :shock:

good find CV , the one thing I have noticed about all the attacks in north america is that at least the US is dealing with some of them by opening grizzly hunting in certain target areas to keep the population in check, what has BC done .......wish I could swear on here still

a good example of poor managment IMHO in BC is region 6 , they have alotted 2 tags for region 6-05 including 6-06, I know there are at least 30 bears in that area if not more but we get 2 whole LEH tags and if 1 of those tags goes to someone out of town that cant make it then what, bears keep growing in numbers and hunters keep declining, time for the liberals to either open up there eyes to the problems they have caused in BC and Canada or step aside and let someone else with a iq higher than the retarded sand flea on a ice cube heading to tahiti deal with it :!:

I've never been charged by a Grizzly, but I shook hands with a black bear once. Been stocked by a cougar, lunged at by a rattler, and chased outta town by the jealous husband of a bearded lady.
The defender is a good idea, I bought one for the exact same reason. It's awesome piece of mind. And if you promise not to tell the Fuehrer, I'll admit to carrying a 9mm sidearm for extra security in Grizzly country.
As for the Bigfoot, my buddy and I heard one once. Sounded like a cross between a moose and Chewbacca. The smell was horrible!!! We had a bad feeling, like something was watching us, and we just pulled a 180 and got back to my truck ASAP, and went hunting 10 kms down the road.

I must say good luck with that, I wish you and your family all the best in aranging your up coming funeral :lol:. You might want to carry a can of bear spray with ya as well just to make sure the bear can make a tasty meal of you. God knows a can of bear spray can go a long way in making a nice spicy steak supper :wink: :wink:

I remember doing Bear Guard in Jasper during July 86. We had a little RNR and adventure trg camp by the Athabasca river. Typical British army gave us a dustbin lid and a pick helve so we could rais ethe alarm. Not a lot of use when Momma bear is in the cookhouse tent opening the fridge door and doling out our rations. Still I know I'd've stalked it and filled it full of 20 rnds 7.62 from my SLR had I been allowed! I always wanted a real bearskin rug!

i was charged by a blacky once when i was hunting my dad let a 30/06 180 grain fly in to the ground in front of it spraying it with graval it ternd and ran we didnt have to shoot at it again.

Back in the early 90's my brother in law and his partner were charged by a black bear while hunting.
Between them they put 5 rounds into it, according to them it just exploded out of the bush beside the cutline they were walking on. At times the bear was between them. My B in L had a 4 power scoe on his 308 and could only see black through it.
My brother and I were stalked by a grizzly about 10 years ago up pink mountain way. It followed us at about 50 to 60 yards distance for about 200 yards, it stayed just off the cut line in the bush and matched our speed, we only caught one glimpse of it. A couple of days later a bear tried entering a tent at night at a campe located near ours. The beat took off after a couple of rounds were let loose.
Don't believe in bigfoot. however I am 40 now and started hunting (un armed) with my dad when I was 8 or 9. Like most people who spend a lot of time in the bush I have had that unnerving feeling of danger and being watched without ever knowing why.
Maybe predator didn't think I was a worthy enough trophy
