Grizzly bullet for 30-06

110gr Vmax or the 168gr TSX!

A grizz is just a slightly stouter, scruffier blackie with big claws and a bad attitude...still require blood/air to keep upright.

When I get draw this year (hoping) I'll use a 140gr TSX from my 7-08AI or my 280AI.

Grizzly

On the mid coast I carry a CZ 458 or a 12 g, all griz's need very strong med's. I perfer to steer clear of em. I live on the Bella Coola river system an salom season it gets lively around here. George

Premium bullets (nos. part, grand slam, barnes, etc) in 200 - 220 grain. The reason for the heavier bullets is because "if" you get a charge (these critters can kill ya don't forget), a larger slug has potentially more ability to hold together and penetrate deep at close range.

30-06 bullet for grizzly

A BC man who has killed a great many grizzly over the years, all with a 30-06 and factory ammo, states in his book he much preferred the CIL Dominion ammo with the 180 grain copper point expanding bullet. When I was shooting quite a few moose I also preferred that bullet.

Would you care to elaborate as to purpose? Did you draw a spring grizzly tag, or something to carry in Grizz country? Or is this a fishing trip :D . Well anyways since you asked, how bout 180 or 200 tsx, 220gr np, or for for something fun and different 240 gr woodleighs :dancingbanana: I really want to try out some of those!

The purpose would be hunting, not defense

I will have to look to see if I have any Dominion ammo left  :D

I was thinking a premium 200 grainers

also I inquired months ago about the availability of the Woodleigh 240 grainer, and was told by the Canadian importer of woodleigh that they would not be bringing any of them into Canada :( I imagine they would be quite the hammer inside 200 yards

180 TSX loaded hot, should be plenty of juice. You could shoot right through an interior grizzly from any angle, and it's good out to 300m+ what more do you need?

I predict a bartell/gatehouse bullet penetration test coming on for the ol 30-06. :dancingbanana:

how about a .303 vs .30-06 bear masher/ hunting penetration comparison?

55gr Remington Accelerator  ;) :D

A 180gr Trophy Bonded Bear Claw will put two large, very leaky holes in any bear. Plus it has a cool name and that's gotta count for something :)
