I'd like a 12.5" 870 style shotgun. Should I just buy a complete 12.5" Grizzly or should I buy an 870 and a 12.5" barrel from Canada Ammo? Are there any benefits to starting with the Remington?

for what its worth go with the DA 12.5 Grizz.

If you put 12.5 barrel on an express, that wont be a better shotgun.

I went with a Remington Wingmaster and bought a DA 12.5 barrel for it. I had an 8.5" DA and the action on the Wingmaster and the fit and finish is a lot better.

I have a DA 12.5" on my 870, the indexing is off slightly to the left :( and the beed looks crooked. Not a ton but enough that I notice it. For the cost if I did it again I think I would just get a grizzly 12.5 with ghost ring sights. Saves a lot of modification in the end, or spend the $300 on a dlask barrel. Which apparently is better.

ganymede;

Is that rail attached to the top of the barrel?

Or is it just the screws in the sides of the receiver holding it in place?

How stable is it?

You can get a wingmaster usually with a 30" barrel for $250-350. Cut the barrel to 18 and a bit. Buy a 12 1/2 barrel from canam for $150. Now you have a shotgun with a silky smooth action and 2 barrels, or you can sell the original barrel and keep the 12 1/2 and you still have a better shotgun for about the same price as a grizzly. Hunting season is winding up and there have been at least 1/2 dozen wingmasters up in the past week alone, but you have to be very fast cause they go almost instantly. I currently have 4 wingmasters. I got a grizzly a couple of years ago and sold it unfired. They are ok until you put them side by side then you can tell the differance

Just buy the Dom Arms 12.5, it is built just as tough as the Remington.

I went tacticool crazy with mine yesterday before taking it to the range and sure had some fun.

Even went as far as to ditch the rear ghost ring for a picatinny rail and my laser/light combo.

Wherever the dot goes....gets blown away. :dancingbanana:
