Grizzly vs enfield

I got a job working up north BC. Thelittle town is full of Grizzlies and the are all over the road. I have a lee enfield, would this be a good bear gun. Hate of having to go out and get a shotgun.

As long as you can shoot it accurately it is just fine, it will show the surlliest of grizzlies the errors of it's ways. If that bear comes out of thick bush at a close distance, 30 yards or less, you will have trouble getting your rifle/shotgun off your shoulder in time.

Do you ever make a post where you don't belittle other people's abillities.
You should change your name to talksalot

I have a bear come out of the bush at me at 20 yds and I wouldn't have had time to do anything. I was unarmed at the time and it turned out to be a bluff charge. The sow had three cubs hidden in the bush. Mind you, a person like yourself would have probably be alot quicker than I.

RR, I think you might be reading too much into walksalot's post.... I don't think he was trying to belittle anybody... I think his advice is sound. It is tough to be accurate when under stress and in a hurry.
I realize that this is a Pot/Kettle statement coming from me buddy.
Just an observation is all.

yea dude walks alot isnt a bad fellow and he has a verry valued point so valued that that point has been researched several times by different folks and proven that if a bear charges you from 25 yards sight unseen (meaning it was in willows etc) you whooped , kiss that arse goodbye and smell yea when we search for yea

even a sidearm (handgun) tested took 2. whatever it was seconds to draw and shoot by a person who is very familiar with a sidearm , a grizz on a full charge at 25 yards its about 2. seconds until hes on you .

but realy now how many times are you going to have an encounter with bears were he craps his fur and bails , yes there are more and more bear attacks and encounters but as its been said a thousand times be aware and be ready .

I may be out in left field here but if I were to working in a heavily bushed, heavily beared area I would take a set of bear bells in addition to a weaopn. Ever rocks in a tin is better. If they know you are there they will do their best to get out of the way. If it is a predatory attack then it could be a mess.
If I am hunting then it is a different story, I have to be quiet.
Some like to take dogs with them but I was in a sitiation where the dogs got between a bear and myself and they were driving it right at me. Again, being unarmed, I ran like a bugger. Sometimes a good bear defence is showing the bruin a clean pair of heels.

Danm rights I would have been quicker .but I probably would have missed with the rifle and hit with the #### from the shorts:p

lol.........sad, very sad.

I had heard opinions from other hunters and shooters I know about CGN. Just this last month when I was up north, and stuck with satellite to check e-mail, the locals snorted when I signed in to check and see what was going on on CGN.

!

Are you are embarassed to be a member of CGN because of what some *locals* think?

CGN has members of all levels of experience, form beginner to expert to armchair commando. Just like real life.

it's the intraweb, dude. ;)
