I've recently purchased a bipod and am going to be shooting from the prone position primarily. What type of ground sheets do you use? A simple tarp or something a little fancier? I think a tarp would be noisy and cold in the snow.

What's wrong with a cheap sleeping bag?

I don't know about Airdrie, but in this part of AB it is cold and once that cold moves through you it is hard to shoot well.

I should have mentioned that I was wanting advice on a ground sheet for snow covered/wet ground. A sleeping bag would get soaked, then freeze....
Brrrr......
;)

If your girlfriend gets cold, then it's even HARDER to shoot well. Good luck hitting your mark if you're getting constant #####ing in your ear. ;)

More to the point, if she's cold and uncomfortable, she's not too likely to be willing to do the job you brought her along for... if you catch my meaning.

Maybe a roll up mattress pad like backpackers use would work? They are about the same size as a sleeping bag and most are made of closed cell foam so they dont absorb moisture.
