Ground squirrels in Alberta

I have an invite to go put a hurtin' on some ground squirrels an hour or two east of Red Deer. I have been informed the land is privately held. I also happened to have just purchased a Savage Mark II BTVS. Coincidence? Yes! A happy one.

I'm having a read through the regs for myself, but I don't want to miss any potential pitfalls and find myself in a bind.

My question is: Can anyone give me a quick read on ground squirrel varminting in Alberta?

What do I need to be legal? Do I need any licenses? (I have my PAL, of course)

No licence of any sort needed for gophers. Have fun, be respectful of people's land.

You have to purchase a gopher license.

They cost a case of beer and a box of 22 shells.

I am the only person that sells gopher licenses in Alberta.
