Grouse hunting in Duck Moutain Mb

Spent a few days hunting all three species.Could hunt pretty much any time of day with success.Ate well,and brought several home.Very good time.Trails are a bit rough .

One used a 410,most of us used a 12 gauge.Whatever you shoot best with, is my bet.

Did you see any moose or are they truly all gone?

Never seen one.However was surprised at the amount of deer.Probably seen twenty including the near tame ones around the cabin.The moose most definently are either hiding or long gone...

Good luck. There are not a whole lot of them around. I haven't been out in the last three weeks but until then there wasn't much. My thoughts are an increase in wolf, coyote, and fox numbers.

Last year was pretty quiet in the sandilands, but I came upon a deer carcass half buried in the marsh, and something came upon me pretty quick through the bush. I shouldered my 14" hp9, but whatever it was took off with my sounds. The bad thing was I dropped my cz455 and got icy snow up the barrel. That's a pain in the sub zero winter. I used hand warmth to melt it out.

Had a great time getting out in the winter. Really looking forward to winter rabbit hunting.
