Grouse/Moose hunting

Wanted to see if you guys have some ideas. I head up every year moose hunting in Northern Ontario and always have the same dilemma. What is the best way to carry both a .22 for grouse and a high powered rifle for moose at the same time? Is there some type of carry 'system' that would work well?

I usually end up just walking with a hunting partner and one of brings a .22 and the other something bigger..but it would be great to be able to carry both.

The ultimate would be a holstered .22 pistol for the grouse...but we all know that isn't an option!

Ideas? What do you do?

That just looks like a 'light' .22? I am wondering about a sling type system or something...
 
Yup, but if you google chipmunk rifle the rogue company shows up. It's a tiny .22 it will fit my 5 year old. either that or come up with some light handloads for whatever you shoot.

Consider a drilling which has 3 barrels which may be any combination of shotgun and rifle barrels, or, a firearm which has one barrel that is for shotgun rounds (20 ga or 12 ga) and the other barrel that has a centerfire chambering from 30-30 to whatever is available.

Savage Model 24 may be worth looking at, but if you really want the all in one firearm, the drilling is the way to go.

Hammond game getter. It's a casing chambered for your rifle with a stainless case head drilled to accept 22 hilti caps, and you use lead shot sized to your cal, they work pretty good. Sold from a guy in Edmonton.

I'm witrh ROCKS X5!!!! I have one in 7x57 and keep it in a pocket. Really accurate to 25 yds,and head shots are easy. Also have an M6 410/22lr folded up on back rack of ATV or in truck.Just super!!!! JITC
 
should be legal... check local laws, but under 500fps air gun should be good to go.

some of them can be louder than others though, a crosman 2240 is a great little pistol (looks like a woodsman) but a short barrel with CO2 may be louder than you want, check the canadian airgun forum for more info, lots of airgun hunters there

What would be an effective pattern/distance.....upto 15 yds?

Assumming no extraction issues and one would simply load a single .410 shell directly in the chamber.

Any suggestion on a particular brand that works well with the rifle? Thanks,
