Good neighbors are a great thing, we all got along well. Our friends down the street tried to keep a rooster but their neighbors behind them called the city on them and the roo went in the slow cooker lol, I’m actually surprised we never had bylaw officers show up. When you have a 5-6 cockerels crowing at 4:30 every morning like clockwork you start to expect a visit, we did process them a few weeks early than we wanted just to keep the peace haha.

We don’t even hear the roosters anymore. It’s the mourning doves that get me up!

Years ago we had some chickens and ended up with several young roosters and before long they were fighting ...came home one day and my 10 year old adopted native boy had a good thing going,got the neighbourhood kids together and was betting on cockfights..they ended up in the crockpot

Predatory birds such as owls take a large toll on the grouse population. The abundance and cycle of these predators dictates the population of upland game birds as much as good/bad seasonal weather.
