I was out yesterday and saw five grouse total. Four were in thick cover and I couldn't really get a safe shot (.22LR) before they flushed but the first one I saw was mostly in the open but walked behind a tiny hawthorn. I had the cross hairs on his little head and when I squeezed the trigger... nothing. Freaking safety was on! He saw me and flew away. Going out tonight to see if I can get one before the season is over.
