Hey guys, happy new year to all!! Hope everyone enjoyed the holidays!! Just wondering if anyone can give me any insight on GRS stocks. I’ve watched a bunch of reviews and read a few and they seem to all say the same thing (fantastic stocks of course). Is anyone on here using one of their stocks and if so, would you say they are worth the price tag, are they truly 100% drop in inletted stocks, and did it improve the accuracy of your rifle? Again I appreciate any and all feedback.

Cheers
Malcolm

Hi Malcolm,

My experience with GRS stocks is very mixed. I had one (1 Gen) on Remington SA. Definitely a nice looking stock, with nice ergonomics, an adjustable LOP and a cheek riser. That stock was ok and direct drop in. Another one that I ordered later was the same stock but 2 Gen for the Savage SA. After almost 5 months of wait, the stock arrived with a defect (one side of the stock had been sanded too much exposing a white layer of the plywood that looked like a big white blemish). The stock also hasn't been inletted for a direct drop in and required additional work. After contacting the Canadian dealer, the distributor in the USA and the manufacturer in Europe I did not receive any help except from the Canadian dealer. I was offered a replacement but with a few months of wait. A distributor in the USA answered my email only after two weeks and the manufacturer didn't even respond to my email. I just returned the stock.

As for the accuracy, the GRS stocks will not improve it until the bedding job is done. They don't have pillars, aluminum blocks or bedding from the factory. The accuracy could even worsen if the factory stock has an aluminum block and of good quality. Basically, they are the same laminated stocks as Boyds (maybe a bit better quality and better ergonomics).

Are they worth the price tag? My opinion is no. For almost a grand, there are better options on the market. Considering the lack of support from the manufacturer and long wait time, I would choose something else. MTD or KRG chassis, for example.
