Has anyone here installed one of these kits and did they manage to be able to use the top cover that comes with the kit? Part #5 i believe? Can you post photos if you did? Thanks

One guy here did use the top cover. He posted pics in the mod sticky. The problem is you need to use resins to adhere it in and then fill, sand, file, grind etc the rest of the area to contour the mess to look right. I might do it. It just looks beyond my skill level. I am thinking a rear rail delete would be the best plan. Unfortunately the only one I know of that has made one is Wal-Mart greeter and he has retired from his endeavors before making the rear rail delete available.

The biggest issue I have seen with the conversion kit is the front sight assembly is quiet a bit lower than the stock GSG-16 one. I had to modify my rear sight by drilling a new hole for the adjustment screw. Drilled above the old hole and cut the lower portion off.

I threw mine out. The part is pot metal, unfinished, and looks like ass. I did pull my upper receiver apart to install it and then gave up when I saw the end result. It still leaves the raised ridges where the picatinny rails used to sit between; it kind of eliminates it's purpose to me.

At the request of another member I did produce an extended GSG-522 rail delete plate. I delete my PMs regularly, so I can't remember who it was (I'm sorry!). That member chose to use adhesive to install the rail delete rather than separate the upper receiver and re-use the screw/bushing setup the stock gun uses.

If someone wanted a GSG-522 rail delete (with or without screw holes) I am happy to happy to sell them one but I'm not going through the trouble of making an EE ad for it.
