Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone has had experience using CCI Velocitors with their GSG 16?
Wondering if they are too much for it at 1435fps?

I've heard that they are ok but may cause more wear and tear over time?

Thanks

I use them and honestly hyper velocity ammo like the Velocitor work more reliability after installing the 9" Dlask barrel on my GSG16.

Cheers

In theory it will cause more wear but it will probably take many thousands of rounds. It comes down to spring weight, bolt/buffer weight and receiver design. And a recoil buffer (if equipped). I don't have a GSG16 so I can't say more than that.

It's pretty expensive ammo, no? I found that my straight blowback .22 firearms all cycled more reliably with 40gr ammunition. Not necessarily hyper or even high velocity - I've had surprisingly good results with 40gr solid American Eagle bulk pack ammunition.

Though I'll confess that I always use heavy / high velocity ammunition for breaking in new 22 semi autos.

I wouldn't use Stingers. Not in the GSG-16. I'd stick with something more along the lines of 1200-1300 FPS. I have well over 16,000 rounds in my GSG-16 and it's been eating itself. I'm using 1280FPS ammo, and I believe anything higher would cause the gun more unnecessary wear & tear.

You are better off with a round that your gun shoots well. No matter how hard and fast a round is, if it shoots a pattern like a shotgun, it is a useless round. Find the round that your particular gun shoots well and use it. That way you hit what you are aiming at. I have yet to find a higher velocity round that is accurate to my liking, they just never seem very consistent.

My GSG 16 has eaten almost everything I throw at it...it seems to work best with copper-coated bullets.... I had some pretty nasty leading after shooting Remmington cyclone and the groups opened up to like a foot...and a hand full of jams. In my gun as long as i stick to copper she works pretty good.... id say around the 500 round make i start to get some failure to feeds on the first round of a fresh mag. giver a good scrub and she's good to go again....

the weakest link is the inconsistencies in rimfire ammo, reduce stoppages by using premium ammo....or just use the stoppages as a training opportunity...I bought this rifle to use in three gun...so i keeper clean and run CCI mini mags in a match.... outside of a match, i just shoot anything i have on hand....

ALSO.....my charging handle sheared off the other day.... ordered a replacement from https://www.tactical-center.com/product-category/accessories/bipods-grips/cocking-handle/ after reading its not so uncommon, id suggest snagging one...ohhh and if you can a few mag catch springs, as they tend to disappear..(Bic pencil pen springs are a close match in a bind)

Happy shooting!
