Hi, I’m looking for a fun one for sport shooting, a gsg16 or other or maybe a 9mm one.
Any recommendations I’m open to everything! If possible non restricted since waiting for the RPAL atm!

Thanks!

If budget is a concern, 22LR ammunition is still a lot cheaper than 9mm. If you enjoy reloading, the difference shrinks but it's still there.

For NR options, 22LR can get you a significantly smaller package if that matters to you.

For fun semi auto plinkers my go-to's are Marlin 795 and Winchester Wildcat. I don't like semi 22s without a last round hold open, both of these have that feature. The marlin also has high cap mags, and the Winchester has a reversible safety (I shoot left so it's a nice addition).

I have a a GSG-16, Ruger PCC9 and a JR carbine. Happy with all three.

For price the GSG is great and its lots of fun but you need run CCI ammo to prevent jams.
The JR is more expensive in both gun and ammo but its def better built

It really depends on your budget

You can get a GSG-16 for about $500 and $200 in ammo will last you a year
the JR (or any other 9mm) is $1k minimum and ammo is about ~$0.50 a shot theses days.

The Winchester Wildcat with a red dot is plenty of fun in that category. I bought one mostly for the kids to shoot, and ended up putting over 1,000 rounds through the thing myself within a few weeks.
