GSG 16 Sling and Optics Options

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to sling options on the GSG 16. There is a weird picatinney rail section on the stock which seems to serve no function. I was thinking that I could get a couple of 45 degree AR sling adapters and use Magpul Paraclips to mount the sling on the rails or use one adapter for a single point sling.

I also want to install a cheap (under $100) red dot and possibly a 3x magnifier around the same price

Any thoughts or recommendations ?

There's all sorts of cheap knock-off red dots available in a variety of styles on ebay - just search "holographic sight" or "red dot sight". I've got several of them on several guns, and they all work perfectly. I wouldn't trust them on a gun with a lot of recoil or one that I really needed to depend on, but for range toys they work good.

I put an Eotech knock-off on my GSG-16. It looks great and works perfectly, and was $40. A real one probably wouldn't work any better for my application and wouldn't look any different, but would cost more than the rifle did. If I was competing with it, putting it on a big gun, or going into battle, I would certainly not rely on a $40 sight. But for plinking at the range, I'm satisfied.

As far as a magnifier goes, that's where you need to be careful with the cheap ebay stuff. I haven't bought any, but some of the reviews on cheap ebay optics suggest that the magnification claims are sometimes exaggerated.
