Hey all,

I stopped by Al Simmons today and they have GSG 1911 conversion kits for $250... so i now have a .22 top end on my nork commander. Other than the gap at the dust cover it fit well (minor rub on top edge of dust cover) and so far appears to feed and function fine. As a side note Kimber mags fit if a small notch is made in the front edge to clear the feed ramp. Minor shaving of the feed lips was required to prevent the slide from draging but it seems to feed perfectly.... why modify an expensive mag without slide hold open? Because I had one for a build that never happened...

I didnt know there was a conversion kit available.... be forewarned that there are two versions, a series 70 and a series 80... The 80 has a firing pin safety and wont work in a 70 frame unless removed (I almost got the wrong one).

Range report: 700+ rounds and it functioned spectacularly. I had perhaps three or so mis-feeds one FTE and one FTF. I only brought blazer and AE 40g RN as they are my go to brands for semi's. Blazer ran perfectly and AE was useless (not enough power to cycle the action). I'm thrilled with this kit! Highly recommended...

I forgot to mention... I ran it dry appart from a touch of grease on the frame rails and hammer. Minimal fouling and somewhere around the 700 mark blazers started to fail to fully cycle the hammer back... A quick brush to the barrel/ chamber and wipe of the rails and it was cycling like new again.

Accuracy was acceptable, I'm not a great shot and the gun can likely out perform my skills. I can shoot tighter groups with my MKII but I was getting different results with minor grip changes so I dont think I have seen everything it has to offer.
