GSG 1911 .22lr vs. Sig 1911 .22lr

Hello:

I'm looking to buy either a Sig or a GSG .22lr 1911 pistol. I'm trying to find out if there is a quality difference knowing that GSG manufactures both.

I was recently told by two different salesman on two different occasions at Wanstalls, that they indeed are made a bit differently - both having separate runs on the line. They, Wanstalls, told me that they stripped down a number of them and found that the tolerances on the Sig were quite a bit tighter than the GSG e.g. trigger, slide etc. If this is true then I'll spend the extra and get the Sig, however, if the tolerances are identical and the only difference between the two is the name on the slide, then I'll save the dollars and go with the GSG. Does anyone have any knowledge in regards to this that could help me.

I'm calling BS on what you were told. I've have a GSG and have compared to somebody else's Sig, they are the same gun except the Sig's are different colours and have different lettering. Your basically paying more money for the name. And as far as I know GSG makes the guns for Sig.

Also, if you get one, whichever you decide to get, don't buy the Sig mags, they are double the price of a GSG mag.
 
i have the sig and my dad has the gsg.
both are in the tan color.

as far as we can tell they are identical.
though i wonder if my paint it a little better then his?

but as far as we can tell they are identical fit and finish wise..... well except for the fact that his was $100 less then mine.
 
The sig gun is made for them by german sporting guns, they are the same unit. except for the name printed on the side. now go buy a gsg, you'll be happy you did, they are fun.
 
I just bought the GSG after being in your same position.

It has lived up to all the feedback i collected:

Identical to each other
GSG paint is soft and very easily scratches
GSG very good shooter, even out of the box without any mods (better even than the MP-22 pistol i used to own)
Quality overall was very, very good

I have no regrets, and add that i bought mine at Wanstalls too. $10 flat rate shipping and lowest price (349.00) that i could find.

I heard that GSG's 1911 .22lr had some quality control issues, e.g. bushings, some reports of slide blowouts as someone reported on a forum. If there have been problems in the past, has GSG resolved these yet?
 
Is there a way to tell if I'm getting a new production piece with all the bugs ironed out versus an older NIB piece from a store's old stock e.g. serial number, identifying marks etc.?

Hello: Can someone tell me if the GSG and Sig 1911 .22lr's slide stays locked back upon the firing of the last shot, unlike the Sig p226 classic .22lr?

I phoned Questar this morning and they told me that it did not stay open.

The GSG slide stays locked back after firing the last shot, provided you are using the GSG mags. I'm not sure if other mags will work the same way though ...
 
The GSG 1911's slides do stay locked back upon firing the last shot. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I forgot to ask: are people generally happy with their GSG's as a dedicated .22lr pistol?

Also, on the dealer page, one of the stores had the GSG part's kit for sale and I cannot now find who it was as it fell off the page. Does anyone know which store sold the kit? It was $24.95.

I'm sold on the GSG..it's cheap and looks cool. I literally just bought one yesterday. Just waiting on my ATT to come through, which should be by tomorrow or so.
