GSG 1911 or Chiappa 1911 target?

Hi,

I'm interested in both these pistols.

Any pros and cons to either? They're both nice looking imo, and both right around the same price point. The sights on the Chiappa Target seem to be superior (basing solely by photos). I'm not a big fan of the GSG's 3 dot yellow sights, although i could get used to them or switch them out if need be. The GSG is made in Germany and as far as the Chiappa goes im not sure where it is made, Italy? (anyone else know please let me know). Any owners of one or the other (or both) that would like to chime in would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

How about a Colt / Walther Gold Cup 22 1911.. nicer finish IMHO

Are you stuck on the 1911 style pistol for this 22 or are you considering others? What about a SIG P226 Classic 22? It's a runner and can be converted to shoot center fire as well. I just bought one myself after a long debate and reading about all the 22's out there. I'm actually going to pick it up tomorrow. I own all kinds of different pistols including 1911's and Glock's, etc, so my question is not meant to disparage the 1911. I only say this since some out there will jump on it otherwise.

My $0.02.

Gsg love mine its a keeper. Chiappa's felt cheap compared to gsg when I was shopping and personally dont like the smaller size of the colt 1911-22.

Just my 2 cents

That's a nice looking pistol. A little pricier then the GSG and the Sig 1911 though, but definitely superior sights.

I believe The colt, the Sig, and the GSG are all made in Germany by Walther if im not mistaken? Basically they all appear to be the same pistol, with different branding/licensing?

I personally can't shoot Sigs (unless it's a 1911 Sig) as with my parallel thumb forward grip (IPSC type grip) i tend to ride the slide release on Sigs like a p226, thus preventing the slide from locking back.

No, im not stuck on a 1911 .22, i am also looking at the S&W M&P 22.

The colt is made by Walther and has an aluminum slide.. Gsg makes both gsg and the sig. Slides and frames are made of zamak (pot metal)

I too have the gsg 1911 and shoot the federal bulk and so far have put about three boxes through it and it shoots great......I switched out the guide rod and spring as an upgrade kit aswell.
Rod from civil advantage did a review of the gsg

hope its ok to post this...
for the price I think it's a great gun...only thing I didn't like is the mag safety which you can google how to remove it..

GSG 1911 for me.

Mine's got about 3K thru it with no problems so far.

I did put a steel Colt barrel bushing in it pretty much up front, though.

I love my GSG. I do recommend it for the price. I did break the guide rod in the first 500 rounds, but it didn't bother me. I bought the full length guide rod and the pistol, for me, is very accurate. I won't sell it. And it fits all my 1911 holsters.

Loved my gsg....sold it ..regretted it, and bought another...been great for me, polished the feed ramp, replaced the guide rod with stainless....a great shooter..
