Years ago I installed a ZRTS upgrade kit in my GSG 1911. Ever since doing that the gun has shot high. It has the highest front site that the gun came with installed. Either way, front sight is plastic and rear kind of stinks. I pretty much just shelved it after the upgrade (I did the trigger and a bunch of other stuff at the time too).

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good metal front sight and an adjustable rear? I think the rear sight cut was a bit wonky on the GSG (being non standard novak IIRC). What have you put in and did it work?

Tagged for interest.

On a side note, I've looked at the dawson precision sights. They offer both front and rear site replacements specific to the gsg 1911. Haven't purchased it yet, but reviews seem to be good

Same. Their front sight looks good but they don't have an adjustable "target" style rear sight. I don't mind having to take a mill to the front site to raise the elevation. Its hard to put material back if its shooting high. An adjustable rear fixes all those issues...

I was just playing with mine today and experiencing the exact same thing with the zrts kit. Did you ever find an adjustable rear sight?

After installing the ZRTS kit on my GSG 1911, several years ago, I also replaced the original set of sights with the Front and Rear Sight Kit GSG 1911 from Blue Line Solutions. In this kit, the rear sight is metal and windage adjustable. I mounted the front sight from the kit with three dots on it. I think it's the tallest one. Up to 25 yards, never had any problems with shooting high. Unfortunately, the Front and Rear Sight Kit GSG 1911 is now sold out at Blue Line Solutions. Perhaps, it can be found on the EE or at some other dealers?

When I have a front sight that should be taller, I give the top of the sight a scrape with a file to rough it up and then put a dab of 5 minute epoxy on top.

I let it harden withthe slide upside down, so the epoxy forms a peak. I rest it on a coffee mug.

When the epoxy is fully hard (the next day) I file the sides of the blob flat and then file a level flat on top.

At the range I use a file to keep cutting down the sight epoxy until it shoots poa.

Then I give the sight the usual red fluorescent paint treatment and you can't tell it has been done.

I have done this many times. Never had a blob break off.

I never thought of building it up like that, I might try just that.
Pistol is currently shooting a foot high at 45 yards.

That actually seems like a good idea--Thanks!

Because gsg 1911 adjustable novak rear sight at Dlask was sold out, got Dlask’s regular 1911 Novak adjustable rear site instead.
Easiest install as needed filing was less than 1mm.
Filed sight bit more than others, due to gsg 1911 slide being soft material and did not want it to deform by hammering it in with force.
Install finished in 15 min including filling then hammering in using plastic punch and finished with loc-tite.
