GSG-5 .22lr Magazines

I know that the MP5's are all restricted or prohibited, but I was wouldering if I could modify one of the 22lr magazines from a GSG-5 22 to fit in oh lets say my AR-7. Would that be allowed or because the firearm is prohibited that means the magazines are also prohibited.

No, the firearm being prohibited does not mean the mags are prohibited but my understanding is that they would require an export permit to get out of the US. Since there are no GSG-5's in Kanada (AFAIK) you would probably have a hard time convincing an importer to bring them in, so that would mean doing it yourself.

That said, I'm under the impression that the GSG-5 is no longer being produced (maybe someone can correct me on that) so GSG-5 mags may start getting harder to find.

However, if there was a steady stream of GSG-5 mags I would be very interested in that.
