I had been meaning to buy a 22 pistol for years, and after the Handgun-Sales-Event-of-the-Century was announced, I decided I should. I ended up with a GSG Firefly along with 3 magazines for it. Well, after a couple months and the transfer was approved, I received it 2 weeks ago. I finally got it out to the range today with a whole assortment of ammo. This is my first 22 pistol, and I had heard that some pistols could be very ammo picky and I figured I should buy a bunch of varieties before stocking up on any one of them. I pulled the gun apart when it arrived, but had found it clean and a light coat of grease on the slide rails, so I did nothing to it out of the box. Wasn't the best shooting weather today (minus 8 and snowing), so I was mainly testing for function instead of accuracy. Below is my results for what the pistol likes and doesn't like:

VarietyRounds FiredFailures
Federal 40gr Solid1006
Federal Champion 36gr Copper Plated501
S&B Canadian Match 40gr500
Aguila Super Extra 38gr Copper Plated500
CCI Stinger 32gr500
Eley Force 42gr300
Eley Club 40gr300
Eley Sport 40gr201
Eley Pistol Plus 40gr200
Eley Bullseye Pistol X 40gr200
Eley High Velocity Hollow 38gr200

All in all, a very reliable pistol. I was surprised it chewed through damn near everything I tossed at it. Good news is, it appears I can stock up on whatever I find in stock and on sale!

No cleaning before or during. And the malfunctions were all FTE, but they didn't seem to get any worse as the day progressed. The failures I had would clear up with different ammo so it's not even like it was getting gummy or anything

Long story short, I am damn happy with my purchase!

Got a GSG 1911 .22 and have had pretty much the same results. Too cheap to buy expensive ammo. I have used Aguila and Remington bucket ammo from CTC and pretty much the same experience. The odd fail to eject, but a quick clears. Really like the gun and would recommend if we can ever buy again.
