A while ago (pre bill 71 scare) I picked up GSG STG44 .22lr
It's a fun replica, I like it and it shoots okay. But I'm finding maybe wanting a scope.
I'd like to stay somewhat authentic looking. But the only mount I could find is the one made by German Sport Guns.
Does anyone have one of these?

GSG STG44 .22 Caliber Scope Mount

I was thinking about another PU scope from WestRifle.

This is a genuine STG44 with a PU scope

But wondering of the short eye relief.

Has anyone mounted a scope on there GSG STG44?
What are your thoughts
TIA

GSG makes a claw mount that's actually for their MP5/22. But it fits the MP44/22 perfectly. Gets around the eye relief issue since it mounts in the same place as per your historic pictures. The metal on the 44 is soft though and the claw mount will mark it if you are not careful.

See if this image paste works.

I used the claw mount and it worked great, save that the rifle had, or had developed, a wobble in the barrel trunion that meant the scope would not hold zero.

After searching a bit, I finally purchased a Gen 2 mount from Colonel Mustard.
They had a flat rate shipping and I needed some other goodies too.
Let ya know when it gets here.

Had some issues with trying to get some mounts to work on mine. The cheap Amazon 4 or 5" Picatinny claw version, Colonel Mustard sells the same one, like 18.00 cheap, the claws wouldn't get down far enough over the rails on the side, kept slipping up, only had vertical tightening capacity, which with the jaw profile, vs the rail profile, wouldn't grip properly. Didn't really allow enough for and aft movement either, and the screws and spring setup in that mount are not very strong.
I have the high H&K MP5 style claw mount on it now, took a bit of futzing with the lock travel on it to get it to work, but it does. Also have the GSG version as I was finally able top get one, haven't tried that yet. The H&K mount is a heavy character as well, with the scope, likely pushing into 13 lbs now. I like the gun, it is a shooter, no issues so far. There is another STG thread where I think i put pics up, and maybe a better desc of the mount issues.

The Gen 2 mount came in from Colonel Mustard. Went through some of my rings and didn't really have a set for a 26.5mm scope. (Rifle PU scope) Just 25.4mm and 30mm.
Might have to do some searching.
The rings I used are 30mm x 21mm H. Lots of room if I want to drop in a bit. Cannot see either hard sights looking through the scope. I might get a 10mm H set and see if that will work.
The Gen 2 has 14 ribs at a length of 13.7cm giving you a little wiggle room.
Just need to get to the range and try it out.

Here's a real STG 44 with scope.

Are these guns decent? Reliability? Durability?
I like mine. Probably 1000 rounds through mine. It has the odd failure like all 22. Semi. Well built and heavy but is pot metal after all. Pretty accurate with aim point T1 replica redot. I like the MP 40 better for compact but no scope. So far very happy with GSG products.

Have over 4000 rnds though mine, get a jam arond 200-225 rnds, clear the chamber and feed ramps with a toothbrush and 30 seconds later, continue shooting, the cheaper the ammo the more I clean.

Just lap a set of alum 25.4mm scope rings. 1MM isn't much.

This was mine, sold it (to a CGNer) to fund an Anschutz 1416 for Silhouette.
Great rifle, very accurate, the only downside is the weight.
High Velocity is a must, and CCI HV is the best.

BTW I also have, NIB and never mounted GSG 44 Scope mount.
PM me if interested. $50 shipped to the majors.
