GSG1911-22 broken firing pin

Hey guys just wondering if this has happened to anyone I went to take the gun out of my safe to do some dry firing (always I mean always use snap caps) and as I locked the slide back the back part of the firing pin just popped out. It broke where the firing pin retainer fits. It looks like there was a flaw in the casting.

Edit: it broke into 3 peices
 
My GSG firing broke using live ammo. Not snap caps.

Around the 8000 round mark.

Contact Blue line activities. Pins in stock when I needed one and worth only a few dollars. Easy to install (just watch for a spring underneath)

I don't think this kit was out when I replaced mine

I've always been told not to unless you have a snap cap even asked the smith about snap caps and was told it was fine the only explanation of possible damage I was aware of was deformation if the pin at the area it strikes not at the back by the hammer.

Firing pin is made by die cutting. You can see visible die marks on the edges. Then, the plate is subjected to heat treatment. If the metal is not properly conditioned (tempered/annealed) after the initial treatment, it becomes brittle. This might be the case on some GSG 1911 firing pins.
