GTA lead sources

Can anyone suggest some sources for lead in the GTA. Free is best, cheap is good fair price if neccessary. Expensive is out.

I've tried talking to three garages about wheelweights and all said no. They have deals with scrappers to pick up everything. I said I'll beat their price. They said no, they have a deal with a guy, and have no interest in cutting out old reliable, for a one time small fry even at a better price.

How many shops do you have to meet before you get a hit?

Any other sources? Any tips for a newbie lead prospector in them there barren hills in the big smoke?

i haven't tried it yet, but i suspect you would have good luck if you spent a day sitting outside a scrap yard that buys lead/WW and ask how much they are giving per pound. then put a sign up in front saying you will pay 5-10cents more per pound. i have a refrigeration scale, but i'm sure a bathroom scale would work just as good.

once you sort them you can sell the zinc and steel back to the scrap yard.


my lead scores have been through finding sheeting lead at work mostly.

I just pulled 300lbs of range scrap out of my gun club's indoor range. That will translate out to 200lbs of clean lead ingots which will last me the year.

I went to over twenty garages before I got my first bucket.

I got most of my lead through networking....one of my Facebook "friends" is dropping off 40 lbs next week

Have lots of cash ready...one place had so many buckets that I had to share my fortune with a fellow#gunner.
